Ford Expands the Everest Range With New Active Entry Point and Tremor on the Way

Ford South Africa has expanded its 2026 Everest range to offer customers greater choice, enhanced value and increased capability across the line-up. The update introduces a new entry-level Everest Active, brings upgrades to the Sport, Wildtrak and Platinum derivatives, and confirms the upcoming arrival of the adventure-focused Everest Tremor.

The most significant change to the line-up is the introduction of the Everest Active, which replaces the previous XLT as the entry-level model. The Active is designed to make Everest ownership more accessible while retaining a strong level of technology, safety and comfort. Despite sitting at the entry point of the range, it comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centring, a 12-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, FordPass connectivity, seven-seat practicality and keyless entry.

Buyers can choose between two engines depending on derivative. The Everest Active is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel producing 125 kW and 405 Nm, while the Sport, Wildtrak, Platinum and upcoming Tremor use a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel producing 184 kW and 600 Nm. All models are paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

Four-wheel-drive availability varies across the range. The Everest Active can be specified in either 4×2 or part-time 4×4 configuration, while the Sport, Wildtrak, Platinum and Tremor all come equipped with Ford’s advanced four-wheel-drive system as standard alongside the V6 diesel engine.

The Everest Sport now combines the V6 diesel engine with a broader features list, including a 360-degree camera, a Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Zone Lighting, a powered tailgate and upgraded interior appointments.

The Wildtrak builds further on the Sport with a more adventurous design and additional premium touches. Updates include an exclusive new Ignite Orange paint colour, Matrix LED headlamps, powered third-row seats, a premium leather interior and a panoramic dual-panel moonroof.

The Platinum remains the flagship of the Everest range, retaining luxury features such as heated and ventilated seats, B&O audio, 21-inch alloy wheels and Pro Trailer Back-up Assist. For 2026, it gains a new Acacia Green paint option along with revised exterior detailing.

Set to launch in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2026, the Everest Tremor is a new addition built for customers who want greater off-road capability without giving up comfort, refinement or towing ability. It builds on the success of the Ranger Tremor and extends the Everest’s appeal to more adventure-focused buyers.

The Tremor’s off-road credentials come from a range of dedicated upgrades, including Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with unique off-road suspension tuning, General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, an additional 26 mm of ground clearance over the standard Everest, and an exclusive Rock Crawl Drive Mode for improved capability on loose and rocky terrain.

Power comes from the same 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine used elsewhere in the range, producing 184 kW and 600 Nm and paired with Ford’s advanced four-wheel-drive system, while the Tremor retains the Everest’s 3,500 kg maximum braked towing capacity.

Visually, the Tremor is set apart by a distinctive honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lamps, a steel bash plate, heavy-duty side steps, signature Tremor badging and an exclusive Command Grey exterior colour. Inside, Tremor-embossed leather-accented seats, ebony interior finishes and all-weather floor mats bring a rugged edge to the cabin, while the SYNC 4 infotainment system and Ford’s full suite of driver assistance and safety technologies carry over from the rest of the range.

Pricing and full specification details for the Everest Tremor will be announced closer to its Q4 2026 launch.

The updated Everest range is priced from R825,000 for the Everest Active 2.0L 4×2, rising to R875,000 for the Everest Active 2.0L 4×4. The Everest Sport V6 4WD is priced at R1,149,000, the Everest Wildtrak V6 4WD at R1,244,000, and the range-topping Everest Platinum V6 4WD at R1,340,000.
